COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS FOR HOPE & HEALING

Community Connections for Hope & Healing is a grief education & support program provided to our community by Sherwood Funeral Home in collaboration with the Federated Church of Grass Lake.

Grief Education & Support Groups for Men & Women

Thursdays 7:00-8:30pm beginning September 23

“Understanding Your Grief”

“Understanding Your Grief” is an educational support group for those adults recently bereaved.  Each 90 minute session will begin with a 30 minute information presentation on different aspects of grief.  Following the presentation you will be invited to break into small groups for men and women at which you can share your experience in grief and discuss our resource book.  Our grief resource book, ‘Understanding Your Grief’ by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, describes touchstones for finding physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual hope and healing.

Our Weekly Education Presentation & Discussion Topics Will Include:

  • Overview of What You Might Experience in Your Grief
  • Be Open to the Presence of Your Loss
  • Dispel the Misconceptions About Grief
  • Embrace the Uniqueness of Your Grief
  • Adjusting to the New Normal
  • Explore Your Feelings of Loss
  • Recognize Your Are Not Crazy
  • Understand the Six Needs of Mourning
  • Nurture Yourself
  • Reach Out for Help – the Guideline of Thirds
  • Seek Reconciliation, Not Resolution
  • Appreciate Your Transformation
  • Discovering New Hope and Meaning

The groups will be facilitated by one or more staff volunteers of ‘Community Connections for Hope and Healing’.  Feel free to come for a week or two to discover if an education & support group will be helpful for you in your journey of grief.  The groups will continue into the New Year to support you in your loss.

Pre-registration for the groups will be helpful so we can have materials prepared.

Cost for the book is $10.  To register please call Chris Sherwood (517-522-3000) or Chuck McNeil (517-522-8335) or email us at:  cconnectionshh@yahoo.com
